The RUNWAY ~ Elie Saab Spring 2011

Long tulle and organza gowns. Romantic and delicate. Ethereal. Softer delicate femininity. Sparkling details. High waisted silhouette. Fairytale-esque gowns. Soft lavender. Silver and yellow hues. Sequined and lace garments. Flowers at the shoulder. Grosgrain at the waist. Organza flowers and tatters of mousseline.

One thing that’s always consistent about Paris Haute Couture is Elie Saab. And the spring 2011 season happens to be no exception to the rule. More than this I think that this is one of the best of the last years. I simply adore the latest couture outing.

The RUNWAY ~ Jean Paul Gaultier Couture

I loved this Paris Haute Couture Week. But I couldn't help notice lot of references made to fashion history designers (here Dior SS 2011 Haute Couture). And when I first saw the spring 2011 couture showing from Jean Paul Gaultier, immediately came to my mind a portrait of Regina Relang that I love. Was only a simple casualness?
A stated tribute to those golden glamorous years or a lack in inspiration?

The RUNWAY ~ Jean Paul Gaultier Rock Parisian Couture

Crosses.Punk rock. Parisian glamour. Retro '20 and '50 parisian silhouettes. Faux-hawks. Cinched waists. Form-fitting silhouettes. Sheer materials. Shimmering black. A mix of the masculine and feminine.

The RUNWAY ~ Valentino Spring 2011

Closing Paris Haute Couture Week. Iridescent materials. Ruffles. Long and loose-fitting silhouettes. A couture dream. Feminine frocks of lace. The magic is in the details. A powdered dream.

The RUNWAY ~ The Dior New Look is back

Dior started off Paris Haute Couture week today showing off retro silhouettes and bold makeup for a strong spring 2011 showing. Voluminous shapes with cinched waists, airy hats . John Galliano gave a runway show of utmost retro opulence and glamour.
New Look: 64 years ago, those same two words signified one of the most important changes the fashion world has seen. In 1947, the couturier Christian Dior introduced his New Look that transformed women's appearances after years of military and civilian uniforms. New look radical style featuring rounded shoulders, cinched waists and ultra-feminine skirts was a dramatic change from wartime austerity styles. Dior’s lavish use of material was a bold and shocking stroke. His style used yards and yards of fabric.

The PHOTO ~ Erik Madigan Heck

Erik Madigan Heck is not your average 25-year-old in the fashion and art industry’s. This guy has a portfolio and cv that is hard to compete with. Having photographed for designers such Lanvin, Rick Owens, Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier, Rodarte and Helmut Lang.
Erik’s work as a photographer, publisher and cultural theorist has intertwined significantly with the world of ‘A’ in 2010, as can be seen in Giambattista Valli’s A#10. The work of photographer and nomenus quarterly Erik Madigan Heck is consistently noteworthy. I am personally most impressed by the distinct style of photography he has developed. His shoots have a rinasciment aura.

The ART ~ Igor + André ♥ Proenza Schouler

Here it is again.
I love Danny Roberts artworks. And I love how his work turned out even this time. He got inspiration from Proenza Schouler Spring 2011 Campaign. Danny make also a video and put one song of a band called "Foster the People". One of his best friends, Sean Cimino, is part of this band.

The PHOTO ~ Nirrimi

These pictures of the photographer nirrimi are so lovely and wistful and sharp and witty...the recurring pops of vivid red are a fascinating counterpoint to the overall sense of softness. She says about her:
"teenage gypsy with a camera in my hands and the entire world at my feet. it's a tough job to choose which moments to keep alive forever, but i live for it".
"i have a feeling my pictures will evolve as my life does, into more warmth and realness. i'm finding my feet and planting them in the soil much deeper now. but the gypsy blood still flows. joyous new years. make memories you are proud to keep".

The MUSTHAVE ~ Fuzzy Jumper

Mohair blend jumpers. Love the fuzzy jumper trend. Serenity and nostalgia. Autum leaves. Some hot chocolate. Airiness. Similar to soft refuges. Warm and soft. Voluminous and intricate like a nest. As dense as a cloud. Sea-sponge effect. Delicacy and lightness. Just wrap me up.
